SPRING IN THE PALENTINA MOUNTAIN
Several exits can be made throughout the park during the spring.
We wish to explore the forests discovering the centennial trees, with twisted shapes, or approaching the alpine areas, seeing the botanical and bird diversity that it houses, all with a landscape that will not leave us indifferent.
We are in the heart of the Cantabrian Mountains, and here spring arrives a little late, around April, when the great forests of oak and beech, begin to cover an intense green, and the mountain melts the last snows of the long winter, lengthen the days, and everything wants to wake up.
It is a time of colors and sounds in the Palencia Mountain, the numerous plants that begin to dress the slopes, and flood the fields, begin their annual cycle, as well as the great diversity of birds, like the medium beak, tenant of the old oak woods , that at this time is all busy looking for a partner.

The birds will enliven us with their songs the different walks we can take.
Little can be walked, observing such a wealth of flora and fauna, at each step different birds, such as agateadores, climbers, raptors, will make us put the binoculars in our eyes to identify them.
The mountain is all an explosion of colorful “flush” soil, almost without a place to tread, the different flora, much of it exclusive to the region as draba hispanica or the rare echium cantabricum, well worth the trip.

HALF DAY ROUTE
– Departure from the accommodation at 9:00 h.
– Tour through the most representative forests of the mountain of Palencia, seeing its flora and fauna
– Return to accommodation around 13:00 h.
– Transport in 4×4 vehicle.
ROUTE DAY COMPLETE
– Departure from the accommodation at 9:00
– Excursion to the Peñalba glacial basin, an area of special protection, and one of the most biodiverse of the Palencia Mountain. Sandwich food in the field (not included).
– Return to accommodation around 18:00.
– Transport in 4×4 vehicle.
