LLAMAS
Firm: Grass and stone track
Llama, llana or lama are the names that receive the flat and muddy places in Carranza. This route through the mountains of Ordunte departs from the Buitrera, a vulture feeder that the Provincial Council maintains throughout the year. We begin to walk among beech trees, to immediately enter the ravine that forms the Pozonegro stream. We cross the stream crossing another beech forest and face the ascent to Zalama (1,336 m.), Roof of the Encartaciones region. Here we can observe one of the few peat bogs of type that exist. If time permits, we can enjoy unbeatable views of the three provinces that embrace here: Bizkaia, Burgos and Cantabria. We will return to the starting point, walking along the Llana de Salduero, an area of high pastures where, since long ago, cattle have been raised in summer. We will enjoy a perfect perspective of the Sierra de Ordunte and the Carranza Valley.
