NAVIGATING THE CRIB OF THE FISHING EAGLE

The mixture of the salt water of the sea and the sweetness of the river … the interchange of their nutrients, make estuaries very rich places biologically and landscape.
The Miera estuary, which gives its name to its river, together with its Dunas El Puntal rests in the Bay of Santander, while a great variety of species cohabit in it.

Among them, the Osprey, a wonderful bird of prey that hibernates in this area and that in the summer period of 2017 forms the first pair of the north of the Iberian peninsula after many years and that continues to accompany us in our bay as well as many other species that we will have the pleasure of knowing.

Enjoy the navigation through the Cubas estuary and the Miera Estuary, learning and recognizing its natural heritage through our specialized guide that will help us identify the aquatic and marine species that we will encounter along the way, such as herons, cormorants, seagulls, spoonbills, lapwings, curlews, sandpipers, ducks …

MY ADVENTURES

“It did not cost me to recognize it, there are not many raptors with that elegance over an aquatic innkeeper.
The chestnut plumage combined with the white, the dark mask on the sides of his head and that tranquility despite our presence had unmistakable … Dear Osprey.

We continue sailing on the green water, a vivid reflection of the vegetation that surrounds us and that gives shelter to other species, all of them I learned at the rhythm that marked the experienced guide, as well as the curiosities of the environment and its peasantry.

None of us on board did not care about the return of the summer rain that fell on us, the emotion of the experience was stronger than her.

We all left with the certainty that if we had not seen the protagonist we would have also taken a great experience, we left the great cradle of the osprey! “
